Huang Haiyan, Chairperson of MEMSIC, extended a warm welcome to all guests in her address. She noted: "MEMSIC’s settlement in Wuhu is a crucial milestone in the company’s national industrial layout. Leveraging the complete semiconductor industrial supporting facilities and special incentive policies in Wuhu’s Jiujiang District, we will deploy a full-process MEMS sensor mass-production line here, filling a critical gap in the localization of high-end sensors within the Yangtze River Delta, and building a comprehensive industrial base integrating R&D, manufacturing and industry applications."

Liu Wei, General Manager of MEMSIC Wuhu Co., Ltd., stated in his speech that the Wuhu base undertakes core back-end functions including testing, calibration and tape packaging. It is an indispensable pillar for stable product delivery and capturing leading market share in China. We will stay focused on large-scale mass production targets, prioritize three core objectives: process optimization, yield improvement and capacity ramp-up, strictly control product performance metrics, continuously benchmark technical standards of overseas competitors, and realize stable large-scale delivery of the production line at an early date. The Wuhu base will contribute to domestic substitution of inertial devices and capture domestic gyroscope market share.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests visited the production line viewing corridor. Exhibits showcased MEMSIC’s technological accumulation spanning more than 20 years, its global industrial layout and long-term development roadmap for the Wuhu base. On-site technical specialists provided detailed introductions to products including 6-axis IMUs, AMR magnetic encoders and eOIS image stabilization driver chips.

MEMSIC has been ramping up production capacity since the start of this year. The person in charge of MEMSIC’s Wuhu production line introduced to Jiwei Network that the Wuhu factory covers a total construction area of 6,000 square meters with a total investment of RMB 200 million. The first batch of equipment is scheduled to be installed by the end of this year, followed by phased capacity release. Currently, the production line is positioned as a dedicated automated testing base for gyroscopes and inertial sensors, specializing in all back-end processes including testing, calibration and sorting after wafer fabrication. Its long-term plan targets an annual capacity of 200 million units within five years. Once completed, it is expected to become a benchmark base with leading scale in China’s back-end packaging and testing sector for MEMS inertial devices.

MEMSIC Strategic Press Conference: Three Major New Products Unveiled

At the highly anticipated new product launch segment, Lu Jian, CEO of MEMSIC, took the stage to unveil three flagship new products: a 6-axis IMU, an AMR magnetic encoder and an eOIS image stabilization driver chip.

Dubbed the "super sensing hub" for smart terminals, the 6-axis IMU delivers excellent noise density and outstanding temperature stability. MEMSIC MIC6200 underwent 5 years of development with R&D investment of RMB 230 million. After dozens of iterations, the team overcame multiple challenges including tight iteration cycles, supply chain constraints and barriers in process and intellectual property. The product officially entered application verification this year. Immediately after mass production launched in January, MEMSIC secured bulk orders from domestic mobile phone manufacturers, UAV makers and overseas wearable brands.

In terms of performance metrics, MIC6200 reaches world-class standards: gyro sensitivity error of 1%, ranking among the global Top3 for comparable products; zero drift as low as ±3 dps at the industry-leading level; wide-range temperature coefficient of 0.02%/°C and thermal drift of merely 0.04 dps/°C. For reliability, the product passed stringent verification including 60,000 drop tests and high-magnitude 20kg impact testing by tier-one customers with zero failures, placing its mechanical reliability among the top globally.

From an industrial value perspective, the 6-axis IMU unlocks a market worth tens of billions of RMB for MEMSIC. The global MEMS inertial sensor market reached approximately USD 4.28 billion in 2025 and is projected to surpass USD 4.65 billion in 2026. The global MEMS IMU market size is expected to grow from USD 2.2 billion in 2024 to USD 2.792 billion in 2027.

For precision motion control, MEMSIC launched a brand-new magnetic encoder solution based on Anisotropic Magnetoresistance (AMR) technology. The product features angle INL (Integral Non-Linearity) less than ±0.07°, resolution of 21-bit, maximum measurement speed of 120,000 RPM, and adopts an ultra-small 3×3 mm package. Embedded with self-developed algorithms, it also provides module reference designs. The product is widely applicable in high-end servo systems, UAV gimbals, premium home appliances and automotive electronics.

The global AMR magnetic encoder market reached around USD 203 million in 2025 and is expected to hit USD 298 million by 2032. In the humanoid robot sector, each robot may deploy 80 to 100 magnetic encoders, driving exponential demand growth. MEMSIC announced that its annual three-temperature calibration capacity will reach 12 million wafers within this year, with active capacity expansion underway.

In addition, MEMSIC simultaneously released the MSD4200WA eOIS image stabilization driver chip. The product achieves 40dB stabilization rejection ratio, PID control precision up to 1 μm, output internal resistance reduced by 30% versus competitors, standby power consumption cut by 70%, and supports the I3C interface to fit high-end platforms.

From the 6-axis IMU breaking overseas monopolies, the AMR magnetic encoder tapping the new blue ocean of humanoid robots, to the eOIS driver chip matching world-leading performance, MEMSIC, under the banner of "Chip Convergence in Wuhu", is accelerating the development of full-stack sensing capabilities covering consumer electronics, automotive electronics, industrial automation and embodied intelligence.
