Roll Event Confirmation

Vehicles classified as SUVs and light trucks typically have a higher center of gravity as compared to regular passneger vehicles. The proliferation of these SUVs and light trucks, especially in the USA, has spurred the growth of roll-over detection systems that deploy side and curtain airbags to help minimize or prevent injury to the passangers of these vehicles during a roll-over event. These systems use a "Roll" gyroscope as the main sensing input to the airbag deployment decision logic. A low-g Z-axis accelerometer is used to confirm whether a roll-over event is happening or not.  This confirmation is essential to the system so that dangerous accidental airbag deploment is prevented.
