Navigation Assist / Compassing

Memsic Robust 2D and 3D magnetec sensors a ideal for in-vehicle compassing applications such as rear view mirror and consol compasses. Their wide sensing range (+/- 16Gauss) accomodates designs with large distrubing magnetic fields making it easier to find a suitable location for placement on the PCB. Additionally their lower noise and higher resolution make for a more accurate heading determination with less averaging.

Compasses and accelerometers increase the usability of GPS / Infortainment systems. Acceleromters provide inclination information to the navigation system so it can determine if the car is moving up or down a ramp on multi-tiered highway systems used extensively in Japan and other high population density areas.

Compasses provide directional infomation as soon as the vehicle is turned enabling the navigation system to immediatly know the cars orientation and provide accurate driving instructions instructions. Additionally when the GPS signal is lost the compass can provide directional information to the vehicle extending the time the naviagtion system is accurate with respect to the map.
